My mother has been at Orchard of Athens since November 2024. It is a well run, clean, and professional facility. We looked at several other facilities, and none came close to Orchard. The staff are caring, and kind. The facility is bright, open, and inviting. The food overall is good, and abundant. Most importantly my mother feels at home here. We are very grateful that this facility is here in Athens.
I moved my father to the Orchard in September of 2024 from out of state. Having lived his entire life elsewhere, coupled with two forms of dementia, it was a challenge. This was made even more difficult in that while his mind was gone, he was still very mobile and didn't look like he should be living in a memory care unit. The first few months were quite a challenge as he frequently tried to leave and/or got rather frustrated by knowing he wasn't where he had been for the previous 76 years. However, the staff at the Orchard was incredibly loving, creative with ideas to get him engaged,…
However, the staff at the Orchard was incredibly loving, creative with ideas to get him engaged, thoughtful on how to communicate with him, and simply put, the best resource our family could have ever imagined. During his time there, as his illness changed, so did their level of care. They always met him where he was and were great communicators. I saw my Dad every day during his time in their facility (17 months) and, as such, got to know the team at the Orchard quite well. They weren't just putting on a good show when I was around, they truly cared about him. This was evident in daily interactions, calls, texts, and even being with me during his final hours as he passed peacefully in his room. My family is tremendously appreciative of the team at the Orchard and I'd highly recommend their facility for anyone who has a loved one in need of care.
Still waiting on a refund check of multiple months of overcharging for Karole. Well seeing that, it has been 45 days. Maybe you need to get the administration to do the job they were hired for. Other than Kendall, none of them return phone calls or emails.
My wife passed Jan 5, 2024 and I moved into the Orchard on January 8th. Needless to say it was a very emotional time for me. The staff here took me under special care immediately. All of them are people persons who genuinely like you and seem to know what to do to comfort you in your time of need. I can see why The Orchard is number one of assisted care facilities in the area.
My loved one passed away [date removed], so our experience has concluded. We chose Orchard at Athens initially because of the cleanliness of the facility as well as the location of the facility. It is very nice and probably the best in Athens!
My loved one is currently a resident at Orchard at Athens. The staffing is very mixed. There is lots of turnover and a management team that seems very under prepared. There is no leadership and the staff who do the work have low morale.
If the resident really needs care, be prepared to hire a care giver to augment the care provided by Orchard.
It's a perfect community for our Mom. All staff...caregivers, med techs, dining, administrative...have always been very attentive and responsive. We know she is receiving the care she needs and she has actually gotten stronger this past year. We love the facility and available activities. Additional: Could not be more thankful for A Place for Mom. You helped us find the perfect community and were there every step of the way.
