PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANYONE YOU LOVE HERE. Please, do not send anyone you care about to this so-called “rehab” center. What my mother-in-law and our family have experienced since she was admitted Saturday evening is absolutely unacceptable. My mother-in-law was recently released from the ICU and is fighting to recover enough to get home to her family. You would think a rehabilitation facility would provide basic care, compassion, communication, and attention to a patient’s needs. Apparently, that is asking too much here. From the moment she arrived, not one employee even seemed to know who she was. No medication. No assistance with her basic bodily needs. No adequate communication. No sense of urgency or concern for a medically fragile patient who had just come out of the ICU. My husband spent all day Monday trying to deal with the staff and get answers about his mother’s care. After finally returning home, exhausted and frustrated, he received a call from his mother around 8 PM saying she had just been told she was being sent to dialysis. Naturally, we had questions. A LOT of questions. We spent more than two hours trying to contact someone at the facility to find out what was happening and why. But their after-hours recording doesn’t even provide a reasonable way to reach an actual staff member. Think about that. A patient who was recently in the ICU, dealing with serious medical needs, is in your facility—and her family can’t reach anyone after hours to find out what is happening with her. This isn’t about expecting perfection. It’s about basic patient care. It’s about communication. It’s about knowing your patient’s name. It’s about making sure they receive their medications and assistance with basic needs. My mother-in-law deserves better than this. Every patient deserves better than this. What an absolute joke of a “rehab” center. If you love your family member, think twice before trusting this facility with their care.
The service and care my mother received at this facility was terrible. The rooms were not clean. The staff was loud and did not provide the quality of care as expected. Our mother was put on someone else’s clothes without being notified. I would not serve the food they prepared to my enemy. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
There are not enough employees to make this an actual rehab experience. Please understand someone will tell you 5 days PT and 5 days OT. That is not going to happen.
In the process of finding placement for my mom and took a tour of this facility. Among the medical community alot of professionals steered me away from this location but I wanted to still see because the location is closer to my home. Being a native Augustan I had higher expectations for Evans however I’ve found other Pruitt locations (Creekside, Augusta, Augusta Hill) to be nicer. My tour lasted all of 3 to five minutes. I was shown a single room. Otherwise was only verbally told about other characteristics of the facility. Staff was congregated in one area, not very friendly, I observed other patients in bed not out and about. And was told they usually do physical therapy in the room because ‘it takes too much time to get them out of bed’ and I was pointed towards the general direction of the cafeteria and was told ‘most people just eat in their rooms, they’re old they don’t want to get out of bed and socialize’. Lastly beyond the lobby the smell of urine was so palpable that the air felt humid with urine. Personally will not be choosing this location, sharing so someone else in a similar position can have some clarity.
If I could give negative stars, I would in a heartbeat. Do NOT place your loved ones here if you can avoid it. This place is completely unresponsive, unorganized, and unsafe. We've left dozens of unreturned voicemails. It has been a complete nightmare trying to get proper paperwork for a transfer. No notice of a discharge date until AFTER it passed, and my elderly aunt being sent to another facility without a wheelchair, walker, or oxygen - nearly resulting in her being hospitalized due to low oxygen levels. They even lied about insurance coverage ending and stopped PT and OT without notifying anyone. It is so upsetting to think about those in here without anyone to advocate for them. Please, please, BEWARE.
Do not recommend! No way to contact anyone directly, they never (not exaggerating - never) return your messages, did not provide advance notice of discharge, no evidence a pre-discharge meeting was even held, and released my Aunt with no oxygen, wheelchair, or walker - and placed the order the day AFTER she was released, and only after pressure from her assisted living staff. This facility was recommended by the Augusta hospital caseworker - I do not know how any of these people sleep at night.
There are some staff here who are wonderful, but there are definitely many issues. The weekend supervisor Brad W. lied about my mothers medical records and told me she had Lewy Body Dementia as a reason for why she couldn’t have whole food, when I corrected him and stated that was not accurate, he argued with me that was in her medical records and refused to show me what he was referring to. I complained to the director, she stated he made a mistake and felt bad for lying. The next weekend I saw him he said I couldn’t get water for my mother, I had to ask first. The therapists are lovely, but only present during the week, and several of the nurses I’ve spoken with are also caring, but the weekend administrative staff are worthless, Brad W. being unprofessional and a liar.
This is a great facility with very caring staff.
