The staff and executive director truly cared. What they did crushed us. I would never trust a Phoenix community again. Such a terrible thing they did to everyone. Literally 3 weeks after we moved in they told everyone they were closing. Someone moved in the day before. The owners didn’t even have the decency to let their staff know. Such a shame. Sadly… unexpectedly the owners of the community blindsided everyone by closing. Retreat was such a special place and a hidden gem among assisted living communities. The staff and executive director truly cared. What they did crushed us. I would never trust a Phoenix community again. Such a terrible thing they did to everyone. Literally 3 weeks after we moved in they told everyone they were closing. Someone moved in the day before. The owners didn’t even have the decency to let their staff know. Such a shame. I can’t express how happy I am that we found Retreat. We recently moved our mom in and she is thriving. Tammie, the Executive Director, and everyone that works with her care deeply for the residents. They create engaging activities, are warm and compassionate in their interactions - it’s such a blessing to be surrounded by so much love and care. My mom had started to really shrink in her last community. In the few days she’s been at Retreat she is LIVING and expanding - not just existing. We are grateful for the extra help and attentiveness to her needs. I can’t recommend Retreat highly enough.
My husband and I stopped by this assisted living facility for a tour. We have a friend who is looking for a one bedroom apartment. The executive director, Tammie Barker and her staff were wonderful. She gave us an excellent tour and an overview of the facility services. They have wonderful adult activities and my friend, if she chooses this facility would be comfortable and cared for here. Definitely 5 stars.
My tour with ED Tammy was excellent! She showed me a number of well appointed rooms and beautiful common areas. Staff is very friendly and Tammy is very knowledgeable and energetic. The Retreat is a fabulous community and a great value!

The Canoe Kids event this past Thursday was such a heartwarming and well-organized experience. Held at a senior living community, it brought together kids and seniors in a truly meaningful way. The activities were fun, age-appropriate, and thoughtfully planned to encourage connection and smiles all around. It was clear that both the children and the residents really enjoyed themselves. A big thank you to everyone involved for creating such a special and positive atmosphere—we’d gladly participate again!
When caregiving they say you have to put the oxygen mask on yourself first. But sometimes you’re spread so thin it doesn’t seem possible. Meeting with [name removed] and all the staff at The Retreat at Sandy Springs has given me hope, flexibility, and the space I need to be a better caregiver and a more fun daughter to my dad. I’m so thankful for this opportunity to provide a safe and caring living situation that allows him to thrive and continue to connect with the community. For the first time in months, I’m feeling supported and secure in knowing we have an excellent home going forward for him.
I took a tour of the property today, led by [name removed]. [name removed] was warm, welcoming, and very personable. It felt like I was talking to a friend. There was no pressure, and he patiently explained all of the information I will need to make an informed decision. The facility itself is simply amazing. It has a very open floor plan and really nothing like I've ever seen. The rooms truly are spacious apartments - giving residents a since of independence and dignity, while the ample amenities give a since of community. I highly recommend you check it out!
The Retreat at Sandy Springs truly feels like home. The staff is warm, attentive, and goes above and beyond for residents and families. Executive Director Tammie leads with heart and professionalism — you can feel her care in every detail. A wonderful place for loved ones to thrive in comfort and dignity. Highly recommend!
