My experience with this nursing home was horrible. My sister died in this nursing home. It appears that she was left unattended for an extended period of time. The hospital that she was taken to ,Dekalb Medical Center, allowed us to come view her body. The attending doctor asked me if she was in Stone Mountain Nursing home, I told him yes. He told me that when my sister was brought to them she was covered in feces. The doctor said it was so bad she even had it between her fingers. They said they tried to clean her up as much as possible before we had the opportunity to view her body. They…

Trust me, anywhere but this makeshift of a short term stay rehabilitation and nursing home stay. My father got transferred here on Tuesday, my sister had suggested a chest X-ray to check for pneumonia cause he sounded gurgling and congested, they gave a paper the following day starting no pneumonia. Got a phone call at 1am following Saturday saying they were moving him because his oxygen saturation was really low, we asked where they were moving him to, and the response they didn’t know… Emory hospital later at 5:40am called and said our father had died at 5:13am from PNEUMONIA and Sepsis. I for the life of me don’t know how this place is allow to keep their doors open. Horrible, filthy, staff is people off the street it seems with some of them not even having a CNA certificate at the least….
Let me start by saying the aides are caring and patient, but understaffed. The administration is TOTALLY inept. There is no support to families, no updates from doctor, no communication with doctor at all, nurses do not relay messages to the doctor (is there a doctor?), no communication with family whatsoever regarding infection and changes to care, lying to family members saying we were notified when we were not, no care planning meeting after 4 months, referral and visit to outside doctor was canceled due to lack of VA referral (you'd think they would know this), no notary or witness for…

Medical record requests that should take less than 30 days take 60-90 days, maybe more...we are still waiting. No TV hookup for months. If you visit your loved one on the weekends, you have to wait till someone answers the doorbell (good luck). For a month there was no doorbell. $12,000 a month private pay. Stay away. If your loved one gets here for "rehab" make another plan ASAP.
The ONLY positive aspect I am able to give regarding Rosemount/Stone Mountain Run Nursing Home is, I TRULY hope Journey Healthcare will work at making the facility a pleasant experience for ALL the patients, residents, etc. In addition, for family members or responsible caregivers considering to choose this location for individuals needing short term, long-term care, whatever the case maybe, please make sure to visit for observation and inspection before a decision for placement for care is completed. My mother was basically forcibly placed in this facility for some supposedly rehabilitation before I was able to visit and make a conscious decision on whether to move forward with care for her at this facility. The actual day my mother arrived at this location was ABSOLUTELY surprising, and do not mean in a happily surprising manner. It was all devastating, an EXTREMELY long story made short. For twenty long days I was in the backscene creating a plan to remove her from this facility. I do NOT recommend this facility for specialized nursing care for anyone the cherished and loved. They are prone to lose their spirit and thrive to get better. However, each to their own perspective, decisions and choices are made based each individuals selections that are important and whatever makes them happy and comfortable in life. Good Luck!
The Therapy Department is phenomenally run and has excellent leadership
I’ve had a love one in residence since 1/2025. Never experienced a nursing home before. After 3 consecutive falls, while in there for rehab, she’s never been able to return home. The conditions continue to be deplorable, even after several promises were made by owners. Now, I and my family are suffering with Scabies, received while visiting my loved one. We were told rash was from food, maybe soap or lotions…however after 2 months of serious rash, gone then returning, all over her body, accompanied by severe itch on her and roommates bodies, I started to voice my concern. Well…when a Dr was finally asked to look at these two dementia residents, it was found that they have been suffering from scabies!!! The problems caused by lack of supervision, empathy and dismissive attitudes towards dementia patients care continues to concern me everyday.
As of March 2026, my mother has been at this facility for almost a month now, but They are just too short staffed. They need more help. They only have one maintenance man. There is no code to get through the door to visit your family, so you could be stuck outside being on the door for at least 20 mins until someone comes to let you inside. This week the Internet isn't working so there is no TV 📺 for them to watch so I turned YouTube on my mother's phone and apparently their office phone is also powered by the Internet as well because when I kept calling it never started ringing 🛜. Almost every meal(breakfast, lunch and dinner) is either served cold and you have to ask them to hear it back up, or is just not worth eating at all, so I bring my mother 2 Togo plates of palatable food to each to last her until I come back every other day. I have a special spot in the staff lunch room fridge because I have to bring my mother food every 2 days because the food there is so bad. Whenever the patient presses the button for the light to come on for assistance it takes forever for someone to come and assist. One time I sat in my mother's room to see just how long it takes and it's ridiculous, and when the lady finally came I asked her to change my mother's bed and clean her up, and the lady asked me "why, did she have a bowel movement" and I said no she just smells bad, and the lady acted like she didn't smell urine as soon as you walk in the room so she acted like it was no big deal to let my mother lay in the bed with a wet depend diaper on, And now I just received a call at 1130pm from my mother saying that she still hasn't received her evening medicine 💊 so I tried to call the office but if course the phone still isn't working. They only have about 3 people there who you can clearly tell they love what they do for a living, everyone else seems to be just collecting a pay check with bad attitudes. I asked a lady for a cup of water and she said I should just get it from the bathroom faucet, 🌊... Smh, I could go on and on but I really didn't even plan on going this long but I can't go back to sleep now I that heard my mother tell me that she is still waiting on her medicine so now I need to go drive all the way back up there and beat on the door and make them give my mother her medicine at what will probably be around 1am by the time I get there because I live no where near stone mountain but this was the only place that had available bed space at the time.
My father was a patient at Stone Mountain Run. My father entered with the prior owners. Totally horrible experience. Roach infested room. Dirty rooms, my father’s teeth were never brushed. Had to purchase new clothes and blankets every month. Most importantly my dad went into the hospital this past December. He was severely malnourished and dehydrated according to ER doctors. He lost so much weight in the hospital for 4 days and died. Please do not put your loved ones in this facility!
