The staff is warm and friendly but that’s the best part of the facility. The rooms are always quite dirty and it falls on family to clean the individual units. There are always bugs and small cock roaches. Plus the engineered flooring was installed incorrectly and it constantly weeps a lot of the grey ash dust every time you sweep. I don’t feel the staff is assisting with bathing but we are being charged additional fees each month for that. I have to consider moving my family member to a place that cleans more regularly.
We are deeply disappointed with Habersham Memory Care Facility. As immediate family living out of state, we depended fully on them to provide the care they promised for our grandmother. They failed to properly prepare for her arrival. We are deeply disappointed with Habersham Memory Care Facility. As immediate family living out of state, we depended fully on them to provide the care they promised for our grandmother. They failed to properly prepare for her arrival. They told us her prescriptions from Guardian Pharmacy had not arrived, which meant she would have been left without her necessary medications until Monday. Instead of ensuring her medications were in place, they sent her to the hospital for medication and evaluation. Later, they refused to accept her back, stating they did not know the extent of her dementia and felt her behaviors were not safe. However, earlier that same week she had a virtual assessment with Habersham staff, was classified as a Level 3 resident with an increased care cost, and an admission date was scheduled. Our family provided all documentation that was requested. We believe Habersham failed to do their due diligence before accepting her, which led to this situation. As a result, our grandmother, who has dementia, was left in a hospital hallway for days without being admitted, while we were out of state trying to urgently find another facility. This was an extremely stressful and heartbreaking experience for our family. We trusted Habersham to care for a vulnerable loved one, and our experience was that they were unprepared and unwilling to follow through on the care they had agreed to provide.
Such a wonderful place!! Fantastic staff, definitely recommend!
Oaks continues to have issues with caregiver oversight. No one oversees shifts to make sure caregivers are responding to pendant calls, that caregivers are on their assigned floor actively taking care of the needs of the residents. Caregivers leave soiled linens and clothes in the room so the room smells of urine. My mother uses a Purwick system and caregivers throw away connecting parts continually. Currently the internet has not worked since Friday so the residents alert pendants do not work. This is a safety and liabilty issue as caregivers do not stay on the assigned floor to hear patients call out if assistance is needed. The food is not nutritious, it is overcooked and does not taste good. The cook that has been there for months does not print a menu for residents on a weekly or daily basis. Residents do not know what to expect for their meal ahead of time in order to request an alternative meal. Issues have been brought to managements attention numerous times over the last year and a half by myself and my mother. It has also been discussed in the residents meetings. I have called the number for the corporate office and left messages all of which have not been returned so there is no need to respond telling me to call!!!
The employees at the OAKS AT HABERSHAM treats you like a family member. When my husband needed to be in an assisted living facility I looked at many facilities before selecting the OAKS AT HABERSHAM. My husband is extremely happy there & has made a lot of friends there & enjoys the various activities they have. It's extremely stressful to face life altering decisions like this. The OAKS AT HABERSHAM presented the services they offered & I chose to move my husband there & we haven't been disappointed.
The Oaks on Habersham is a very pretty place but no happy with the assistance my cousin is getting with ADL’s. It doesn’t appear she is getting help with bathing & oral care. Her toilet hasn’t been cleaned in quite a while and was nasty. She definitely pays for assistance and should be monitored and encouraged with her ADL’s. She has some dementia.
I’ve had my aunt here for 5 months and they have never once cleaned her room. I visit her daily or almost daily and I do all of the cleaning. The apartments are infested with roaches and other smaller bugs. I’ve placed roach traps to try to control them. The food is pretty sad but I think that’s normal for most places. The elevator is filthy. They have not cleaned it since my aunt moved in so that’s about 6 months. They state they have staffing shortages but it’s been 6 months!! Then they started overcharging me for a higher level of assisted living for the last three months. What for? They have never explained this. I’m there everyday so I would notice if she’d had a shower and they do not manage her meds (I do all of that myself) so I cannot understand why they are charging me for level 3. Her level of care is basically non existent so it’s just like independent living! Organized activities for the residents are practically non-existent. They have a few puzzles in the upstairs activity room and you are on your own. My aunt is never notified of any activities and sits alone in her room most of the time. As a resident, your best option is to have your own outside care givers. I am aware that they are trying to fix these issues but there is a long way to go. I recently heard a lovely singing concert in the lobby area but that was the first one in the entire 6 months here. There has been no director of nursing or executive director for the last 2 or 3 months. I just met the new nurse last week and requested an appointment to discuss the care level charges and confirm if there is any need for such care. I’ve asked other staff repeatedly for someone to call me but I did not hear back from anyone. I’ve notified much of the staff about my overall concerns with the bugs and lack of cleaning but I never hear back about any of this. I would not recommend this place and am now actively looking to move her right around the corner to Buckingham South.
I visit my mother quite often unannounced. When I walk in someone is always there to greet me and have me sign in. My mother is in the memory care unit but they do have her come out for events on the other side when enough staff is available to assist her. The staff is very attentive & friendly when I visit and for the most part she seems happy. I feel my mother is safe and well cared for ..she always tells me how good her food is too. I would recommend this faculty to others .
