I had a very unpleasant interaction with Tabatha at Camellia Place that I found extremely unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational from the very beginning. I was inside the building when Tabatha was outside trying to come in. I noticed she had a food cart, so I got up to help her by physically pushing and holding the door open myself. Since the entrance required a fob, I also asked the nurse to stop what she was doing, step away from her med cart, and use her fob to unlock the door so Tabatha could come inside more easily. The nurse unlocked the door and walked away, while I continued holding it open for Tabatha. There was clearly a misunderstanding because I was actually opening the door for her, but she apparently thought she was trying to open it for me instead. When she walked through, she did not acknowledge me at all after I had just gone out of my way to help her, so I simply said, “you’re welcome.” Instead of calmly explaining the misunderstanding or saying she didn’t realize I was opening the door for her, she immediately became visibly upset, confrontational, and started raising her voice. During her outburst, I overheard her saying she thought she was trying to be nice and open the door for me, but because she was yelling, talking fast, and constantly talking over me, she never actually stopped to listen or understand what happened. As she was leaving that building to go to the neighboring building, I still tried to end the interaction respectfully and told her to “have a good day,” but she sarcastically responded, “you try to have a blessed day, funny guy.” After I later began leaving myself, I stopped by the neighboring building where she was to calmly tell her that I felt her behavior was unprofessional and that I did not appreciate being called out of my name. Instead of de-escalating the situation, she became loud again in front of residents/clients, began yelling, talking over me, and followed me out of the building while continuing to raise her voice. She also stated that she is a director, possibly the dietary director, which made the interaction even more disappointing because leadership staff should know how to communicate calmly, professionally, and respectfully during misunderstandings. The entire situation could have been resolved with a simple calm explanation, but instead it escalated because of unnecessary hostility and unprofessional behavior. Residents and guests should be treated respectfully, even during misunderstandings.
My grandparents currently live at Camellia Place, and our family has been incredibly pleased with the level of care and attention they receive. Since day 1, the staff has been welcoming, compassionate, and genuinely invested in the well-being of every resident. It’s comforting to know that they are in a place where they are treated with dignity, patience, and respect each day. It’s comforting to know that they are in a place where they are treated with dignity, patience, and respect each day. The community itself is beautiful, The cottage-style layout makes it feel more like a neighborhood than a facility, making my grandparents feel more at home. Excellent food and chefs! Very well-maintained, the common areas are clean and inviting. The staff communicates well with our family, keeping us informed, especially regarding health updates and changes. The activities offered encourage socialization and engagement, which has made a noticeable difference in my grandparents’ mood and overall quality of life. It’s clear that the team truly cares about creating a safe, warm, and supportive environment. Camellia Place has given our family peace of mind. We are grateful to know our grandparents are surrounded by attentive caregivers and a community that feels like home.
The cooking staff is amazing is amazing my mom really enjoys the food there amazing places to be
The wellness director, Stacy, is such a light! Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine love for her residents shine through in everything she does. Always smiling, always caring, and always making sure everyone is loved and cared for. Her compassion makes such a difference for residents and families alike.
Camellia Place is one of my favorite communities to within Cherokee County and one of the best assisted livings in the Woodstock area that I have had the privilege to partner with. They have a full staff that truly cares about their residents and tons of activities for all of their residents to partake in. Stacy the wellness director is consistently doing continued education with the staff to provide premiere care to the residents. She is also always on top of the care needs of the residents and I know that if I needed a place for my mom or dad- I would be comfortable with moving them in here.
Great staff. Hardworking leaders.
Love the layout! Staff are attentive and provide a perfect home environment for our loved ones!
When the original owners ran Camellia Place, it was clear they genuinely cared about their work and the people they served—just what we hoped for when we moved our mother in. But after a new company took over, everything declined quickly. Staff turnover and quality of care suffered. Despite our repeated requests: • Black mold grew in her bathroom and was never remediated. • Her room went uncleaned, and her laundry was often ignored—she eventually had to wash clothes in the sink. • Once, she became severely dehydrated after skipping meals for an entire day because “they forgot.” If you have a family member with memory issues, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. We’re grateful we found a better facility, where she spent her final months being loved and cared for properly.
