TRASH: DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE The place is old, food is bad, and the staff are not the best, please read all or some of the reviews before even thinking of putting someone in here. Anyone in the whole world desires a better place than this, this is trash. They need to shut down, don't even get me started on the food, it is uneatable, I had to being my loved one fast food everyday because it was so bad.
Gave this a rating of one star, would have chosen zero stars if allowd! This facility is very old and run down. They lost his clothes 2 times, even though his name was on all pieces of clothing. He was there for rehab... to gain strength from a lengthy hospital stay. He was there for 28 days, and they only let him walk 3 times! He was in the bed or wheelchair all the time! When he came home, he could not walk. Also, they prescribed a pill at bedtime for dementia... he does not have dementia! He was never seen by a doctor. I feel that they gave this pill to him to keep him asleep so they would…

My Mom was at Cambridge for four years. I checked on her every week. Neglect! Neglect! Neglect! Staff did not acknowledge my presence. Uncaring! Towards the end my Mother was left in her wheel chair for seven hours. She finally transitioned to her bed on her own and fell. Mom had to call the police for help. I filed a report. Nothing was ever done and the the report just resolved in Incompetence like nothing ever happened. The director of the facility has some impressive Credentials but is less than hands on. The rehab is good but long term look somewhere else! Sad! Sad! Sad!
I rarely write reviews to anywhere, but this one required my attention. One of my best friends was being released from the hospital and needed further rehab. She didn't qualify for acute rehab and only qualified for sub-acute rehab. We couldn't find a place as quickly as we needed with a bed and Cambridge was the only place available. Well, I can tell you that she, her family, and her friends all would have never made that move if we had followed the lead of reviews. We left her there for 3 days and that was it. There were roaches in the lobby and the place was just simply not the place where you would want anyone you know. While the staff was nice, there was little to no care for the patients. Please read all reviews on this place and make the call. If you don't camp out with the patient 24/7, they won't get the care that you would want them to have. Please, please don't subject anyone to this facility.
You need to have someone with your loved one there checking on them every day. I never saw any kind of regular checking on patients. The nursing staff was generally nice but did very little unless asked - including showering. They do not do hygiene things like brushing your loved one’s teeth. They rarely put my dad in a wheelchair and let him sit somewhere outside his small, boring room. And once we punched the nurse button twice in an hour and no one came. So then the PT lady came and she said helping take my dad to bathroom (which is why we pushed nurse button) would count as part of his 30 min of PT that day. So he only had 20 min of PT that day. No activities. No amenities.
Nursing staff with the responsibility of actually caring for patients, don't. Staff is 1 nurse per hallway of approximately 20 rooms per. Found meds on the floor behind and under the bed even after personally cleaning up room. Bugs on the countertops in room. Meds not given to patients on time, prn pain meds many times weren't given at all. Residents calling out to the hall for help, stating they were being ignored and to please help. PT was decent when with patient but if patient had any other appts like dialysis, they generally would not get PT. Showers for bedridden patients have to be requested or else they don't get washed. My diabetic family member came out with green on their feet from not being washed. After neglecting to care for a medical device (even though they were questioned several times as to concern for the care) patient ended up in the er, non-responsive, put on life support and has been an uphill battle since. These are generally elderly they are caring for so in my opinion care should be impeccable. BC of age, most patients neglected because there are plenty other "reasons" for them to have the issues they have. However, when you are a caregiver (which they did not know I was) you see all the flaws in the system. and many of these patients are afraid to tell anyone bc they are afraid of being mistreated when family leaves.
HORRIBLE nursing care. There are a few nice and helpful people, but the bad outweighs the good by a long shot. Patients are often neglected, especially at night. My mom is stuck here for now, but NEVER again.
This was the nursing home, that I was able to finally spend time with our Beloved Mother, Ms.Willie Mae Gay, after a very long time without being with her. This is the reason, I gave New London a three star rating. The best thing to do, is not put your parents in a nursing home. Let that be the last place- as it was for us.
